Angel Reese is set to graduate from LSU on Saturday signaling the official end to her college career as she turns her focus to the WNBA. The star hooper posted an update on social media this week to celebrate her academic accomplishment.
That personal news was made all the more interesting due to comments made by a teammate’s mom earlier in the college basketball season.
Reese was benched for an early portion of the LSU season over an undisclosed reason. That removal sparked an online back and forth between her mom and the mother of teammate Flau’jae Johnson.
Amid the kerfuffle, Johnson’s mom threw a jab Reese’s way, suggesting an embarrassingly low GPA was to blame.
Angel Reese’s mom, Angel Webb Reese, posted a message on Instagram that read as follows:
Folks pls do not send me long text msgs with a bunch of grammatical errors it gives me a headage… How do I know if you said what you said if I can’t understand what you’re saying?

That landed a reply from Kia Brooks, the mother of Flua’jae Johnson.
You definitely know about grammar errors when your daughter got a 2.0 or less GPA. And in fact when writing your smart message you didn’t capitalize nor did you use any periods.
Stop being petty, fake and hateful, and take responsibility for you and your daughters actions. Your just as responsible you raised her that way

The conversation was later deleted when it began gaining major online traction, but as is the case with social media, nothing truly ever disappears!
The spat didn’t appear to have much impact on the team as the season drudged on, with LSU posting a 31-6 record and making a run to the Elite Eight.
Reese later declared for the WNBA Draft, ending her time in Baton Rouge.
Before she leaves, Angel Reese is proving Flau’jae Johnson’s mom wrong!
Despite a transfer from Maryland and being forced to withdraw from in-person classes due to newly gained celebrity status, Reese is getting her degree – ON TIME!
That should quiet any narrative of that embarrassing GPA.
Reese is set to land that diploma over the coming weekend, just days after she makes her WNBA debut for the Chicago Sky. Not a bad week!
